Mary Loerwald, 75, of
Le Grand, died Friday, Nov. 13, 2015. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, with Pastor Ron Bryan officiating. She will be laid to rest in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, north of
Le Grand. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Born Sept. 6, 1940, in Evanston, Ill., she was the daughter of Joseph and Margaret (King) Gamet. With her dad in the Armed Forces, the family moved several times before she graduated from high school in Cedar Falls. She later attended UNI in Cedar Falls.
On Aug. 27, 1960, she was united in marriage to Charles "Whitey" Loerwald. They made their home in George, Iowa, for two years and later Dillon before moving to Le Grand, where they raised their family of two daughters and two sons.
Mary Lou was employed at LDF Schools and later was one of the first blackjack dealers at the Meskwaki Casino before retiring after 11 years. Her last occupation at the casino was in human resources.
Mary Lou enjoyed traveling, playing cards, knitting and crocheting, reading and watching family sporting events.
She treasured her family.
