Mary Leona Dlouhy, 80, of Alburnett, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The family will greet friends from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, Iowa. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at the funeral home. A Private Inurnment will take place at Lafayette Cemetery in Alburnett. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.
Mary was born on June 28, 1944, in Manchester, Iowa, the daughter of John Edward and Elizabeth Edna (Heller) Roshar. She was a graduate of Alburnett High School. On October 16, 1964, Mary was united in marriage to DeWayne John Dlouhy in Marion. She was employed at Rockwell Collins for 21 years and at Linn County Extension for 15+ years. Mary was a member of the First Church-Christ Scientist in Cedar Rapids. She was an advisor to the 4H Youth Council for over 25 years. She also enjoyed traveling and was known for her cooking and baking. Mary will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mary is survived and lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Tiffany (James) and Tia (Jeff); granddaughter, Tylee; brother, Ben (Brenda); and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, DeWayne Dlouhy.
Memorials in Mary’s memory may be directed to the Cedar Valley Humane Society, First Church-Christ Scientist in Cedar Rapids, or to the family.
