Mary Louise LaBarge, 84, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, at
the Hiawatha Care Center. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick Catholic Church by Father Ivan Nienhaus. Burial: 2:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Prairieburg. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 Second St. SE, and after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. A rosary begins at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mary is survived by her children, Jennie (Larry) McEowen, Cedar Rapids, Jeannie Nolte, Marion, and Andre (Lori) LaBarge, Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Nicole LaBarge, Zachary (Brenda) LaBarge, Kathryn (Martin) Janss, Kimberly Nolte, David (Catherine) Nolte, Derek Nolte and John Moses; great-grandchildren, Spencer Janss, Maureen Nolte, Richard Nolte, Holly Nolte and Jacob Moses; and a sister, Betty Clifton, Urbandale.
She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy, her parents, six sisters and four brothers.
Mary Louise was born Jan. 23, 1933, in Mechanicsville, to George and Esther Hawley. Her family moved to Alburnett, where Mary attended school and graduated from Alburnett High School in 1952. Mary was joined in marriage to LeRoy C. LaBarge on May 15, 1956, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids. LeRoy died on Sept. 17, 2014.
Mary was employed as a corewood scheduler at Rockwell International and retired in 1993. She loved to play bingo, read and crochet, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Mary's family would like to thank Promise House, the Hiawatha Care Center and Dr. Mary Ann Nelson for the wonderful care they gave Mary.
Memorial contributions may be given to Camp Courageous and the Arc of East Central Iowa.
