Mary Krug, 73, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following an extended illness. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb.1, at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Atkins, with the Rev. Douglas Woltemath officiating. Interment will be at St. Stephen's Cemetery near Atkins. Visitation will be in the church sanctuary on Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m.
Memorials may be sent to Central Lutheran School or a charity of the donor's choice.
Mary was born Sept. 30, 1942, in Vinton to Leon and Eleanor (Farr) Woodson, and graduated from Atkins High School in 1961.
On Aug. 8, 1964, she was united in marriage to Roger Krug at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, Atkins.
Mary was employed as a secretary at Link-Belt Speeder in Cedar Rapids and later as secretary at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, Atkins.
She was a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, where she enjoyed membership in the Ladies Society. She also was a member of Atkins Legion Auxiliary and Red Hats/the Atkins Angels. In her leisure, she enjoyed scrapbooking, music and reading. Her greatest joy in life were her children and grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her husband, Roger of Fairfax; her son, Gary (Tamara) Krug of Prophetstown, Ill.; her daughter, Amy (Craig) Hubbard of Yukon, Okla.; her grandchildren, Dustin (Whitney) Hess, Elizabeth Hess, Kyle Hess, Hannah Hubbard and Caleb Hubbard; her mother, Eleanor Woodson of Tipton; her sister, Jean Welch of Bennett; her brother, George (Judy) Woodson of Cedar Rapids; and her sister-in-law, Delores (John) Tibben of Victor.
She was preceded in death by her father, Leon Woodson; and her brother-in-law, LaVerne Welch.
