Mary Katherine Nearad, 81, of Solon, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2022, in her home. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Solon, located at 100 South Cedar St., lower level. Celebration of Life services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 28, at Brosh Chapel. Private family inurnment will be at a later date in Oakland Cemetery.
Mary was born Jan. 22, 1940, in Kansas, the daughter of Theodore and Katherine (Dunn) Schlote. She was united in marriage to Wilbur Nearad on July 27, 1956, in Coralville. Mary worked at Victor Metal, and at Thomas and Betts, until her retirement, later she worked part-time at the Solon Care Center. She enjoyed shopping, gardening, tending to her flowers, going dancing with Wilbur and, most of all, spending time with her family.
Mary is survived by her husband of over 65 years, Wilbur; her children, Duane Nearad and Donna (Robert) Rohret, both of Solon; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Ted (Lynn) Schlote and Steve (Sandy) Schlote; and her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers, John and Dennis Schlote.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Mercy in her name.
