Mary Katherine (Mary Kay) Thompson, 93, of Coralville, Iowa passed away on February 15, 2024.

She was born December 13, 1930, in Baltimore, Maryland to E. Hamilton and Christine Hurst. Her family lived in several locations throughout the Eastern and Midwestern parts of the country. Mary Kay graduated from Downers Grove High School in Downers Grove, Illinois. She attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa where she met the love of her life, Guerin Karl Thompson. They were married on November 23, 1951, in Downers Grove. They made their home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and raised two children, Mark and Susan. In 1978 they moved to Iowa City.

Mary Kay enjoyed being able to stay home with her children and attend their school activities. She loved to camp and fish with her family. She and Guerin loved canoe trips into the Boundary Waters. Later in life Mary Kay was very active and engaged in the various activities of her grandchildren, as well as her great grandchildren.

Mary Kay is survived by her husband, Guerin, her son Mark (Pam) Thompson, her daughter Susan (Tom) Belger, five grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and three stepgreat-grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her parents and her brother E. Hamilton Hurst.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
