Mary C. Jones, 95, of Cedar Rapids, died peacefully Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, at home.
Mary is survived by son David (Julie Ann) Jones; and daughters Alicia Geiger (Glen) and Vanessa Jones.
Mary was preceded in death by husband Donald; son Daniel; and great-grandson Jaylan.
Mary was born on Oct. 7, 1922, daughter of Ralph Carnes and Margaret Ferreter Carnes in Cedar Rapids. She graduated from Mercy School of Nursing with a BSN and was a first lieutenant serving as a nurse in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
Mary and Don were married on Jan. 6, 1947, and made their home in Cedar Rapids. Mary retired from Internists P.C. after 19 years and enjoyed traveling, volunteering at Brucemore, and spending time with family and friends.
Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick's Church, Cedar Rapids.
Private services pending.
Per her request there will be no funeral service.
Typical of her Irish wit, she often said: "If they didn't come to see me when I was alive, why the hell would they want to see me when I am dead?"
