Mary graduated from St. Pat's High School in 1951 and married Virgil C. "Bud" Johnson of Atkins, Iowa, in 1953. Mary and Bud lived in Cedar Rapids, where they raised three remarkable children, Yvonne, Susan and Randall. Mary enjoyed an over 40-year career at iconic local businesses like Collin's Radio, The Iowa Theater, and Osco Drug.
Mary is survived by her children, Yvonne (Martin), Susan (Joseph) and Randall (Barb); grandchildren, Melanie (Rob), Andy, Michael (Amanda), Jennifer (Jacob), Jamie (Corissa), Corey (Breanna), Chad (Kathryn) and Marissa (Aaron); and great-grandchildren, Olivia, Julia, Robert, Theodore, Avery, Emmett, Dalton, Jamison and Canaan.
The family will be holding a visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. (CST) Thursday, Feb. 18, at Cedar Memorial. Following the continued guidance from health officials, physical distancing must be practiced, which requires a limited number of people allowed into the visitation at one time.
