Mary Jo Randall, 81, of Solon, died Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at Solon Retirement Village. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 12, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Brosh Chapel in Solon is in charge of arrangements.
Mary Jo was born Nov. 2, 1934, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of August "Gus" and Josephine (Scolaro) Gureno. She was a 1952 graduate of Immaculate Conception High School and a 1954 graduate of Mount Mercy College. Mary Jo was united in marriage to Ray Randall on Aug. 8, 1957, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids.
She worked at Solon Community Schools as a secretary for over 29 years until her retirement.
She enjoyed shopping, reading, traveling to Las Vegas with Ray and her friends from Immaculate Conception. Mary Jo was a loving mother and grandmother. The time spent with her cherished granddaughters was very dear to her.
Mary Jo is survived by her sons, Brad (Regina) Randall of Solon and Dan Randall of Edgewood (G&G Living Center); two granddaughters, Maggie Randall of Naples, Fla., and Libbie Randall of Pella; her sister, Judy Glassgow of Palantine, Ill.; her sister-in-law, Mary Gureno of Cedar Rapids; a brother-in-law, Dave (Patty) Randall of Iowa City; as well as her cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray, who died in January 2001; her grandson, Matthew; her brother, Augie Gureno; nephew, Mark Glassgow; and brothers-in-law, Bill Glassgow and Bob (Delores) Randall.
Memorials may be directed to Camp Courageous or Solon Retirement Village in her name.
