Mary Jane Fisher, who would have turned 87 on Nov. 18, passed away at St. Luke's Hospital on Nov. 3, 2021, after a sudden illness with loving family surrounding her.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2021, at St. John's Catholic Church in Blairstown with Father Craig Steimel as celebrant. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Blairstown. The visitation will also be held at the church from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday.
Mary Jane was born Nov. 18, 1934, in Amana, Iowa, the daughter of Benjamin and Marie (Westhoff) Wilhelm. She graduated from Blairstown Consolidated Schools with the Class of 1953.
On July 24, 1953, she married the love of her life, R. Dewayne Fisher. He preceded her in death on April 26, 2006.
Mary Jane was employed at the Coon Creek Telephone office for several years. Dewayne and Mary Jane then purchased the Blairstown Feed Mill on Sept. 8, 1978, and both worked with the family business that expanded to Fisher Feed and Fertilizer in Norway for 30 years.
She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church. Her faith was extremely important to her.
Family meant the world to Mary Jane. Left to cherish the memories are her children, Jeanne (Gary) Steichen of Woonsocket, S.D., Jack (Tami) Fisher of Blairstown, James (Mindy) Fisher of Blairstown, Joseph (Tracie) Fisher of Vinton, Jay (Therese) Fisher of Blairstown, and Jodi (Shawn) Erger of Norway; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she adored greatly, Stephanie (David) Lund, Allison and Karina; James Steichen; Sarah (Justin Enfield) Steichen, Beau and Vada; Jason (Krystal) Fisher; Jackelyn (Robert) Krauss; Miranda (Bert) Pedrigi and Hunter; Nicholas Fisher; Noah Fisher; Elizabeth (Michael) Richardson, Easton, Emelia, Eva and Eleanor; Andrew (Chelsea Gruca) Brittain; Monti (Marcia) Fisher, Kaden and Brinkley; Marti (Emily) Fisher, Linkin, Abel and Levee; Tanysha Detweiler, Dempsey, Deegan and Fisher; Reilly (Bridget) Fisher; Rebecca Fisher; Jena (Ben) Tarvin and Raylee; Paige (Tim) Plummer, Eddy and Cora; sisters, Betty (Bill) Sperry and Bernice Brecht; sister-in-law, Charlene Wilhelm; and many nieces and nephews.
She was greeted in heaven by her parents; husband, Dewayne; brothers, Jerome and Patrick Wilhelm; brother–in-law, Eldon Brecht; sister–in-law, Betty Kimm; and a great-grandson, Bentley Tarvin.
Mary Jane's biggest joy was spending time and making memories with family.
