MARY HOCHSTETLER

Mary Kathryn Hochstetler was born March 18, 1936, the daughter of Emanuel and Magdelina (Miller) Swartzendruber. On May 3, 1955, she was united in marriage to Franklin L. Hochstetler at the East Union Mennonite Church. Mary died on Monday, Feb. 2, 2015, at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona at the age of 78 years.
Mary is survived by her husband, Franklin of Kalona; a son, James A. Hochstetler of Kalona; two daughters, Trish (Steve) Billups of South Sioux City, Neb., and Lori Hochstetler of Kalona; three grandchildren, Heather (Stephen) Dunn of Des Moines, Eric Billups of Minnetonka, Minn., and Dustin Billups of Toledo, Ohio; four sisters, Jane Gingerich of Riverside, Gladys Mast of Jefferson, Ore., Dorothy Krebs of Washington and Carol Campion of West Branch; and three brothers, Robert Swartzendruber of Iowa City, Richard Swartzendruber of Reno, Nev., and Glenn Dale Swartzendruber of Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, at the East Union Mennonite Church in rural Kalona. Burial will be in the East Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona.
A memorial fund has been established for East Union Mennonite Church and Iowa City Hospice.
