Mary Catherine Hartman, 77, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, April 17, 2015, at Crestview Acres in Marion. A celebration gathering for Mary will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 27, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW, where there will be a time of sharing at 6:30 p.m.
Mary was born Dec. 17, 1937, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Robert and Mary (Callan) Neal. She graduated from St. Patrick's High School in 1956. In the '60s, she was a floral designer at Stejskal's until starting a family and becoming a full-time homemaker. She married Richard Hartman on Feb. 6, 1965, in Cedar Rapids. He survives. She loved volunteering at Olivet Mission, playing cards, reading, going to garage sales and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Cathy (Mike) Spina, aka Cathy Hart; her grandchildren, Rick (Lindsay) Gallo and Christopher (Johanna Wallace) Gallo; one great-granddaughter, Faith Mae Gallo; two sisters, Margaret (Jim) Barthelme and Jane (Glenn) Kimball; and a brother, Steven (Mary Ellen) Neal.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Patrick Neal; an infant brother, John; and a grandson, Casey Daniel Gallo.
