Mary Katherine Glasford, 78, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018, at home after a long fight with cancer. Service: 11 a.m. Friday at Teahen Funeral Home by the Rev. Diane Townsley. Friends may visit with the family after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mary is survived by her children, Patty Wignall and James Nutt, both of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, Leora (Carter) Wood, Leaha (Kurt) Campbell and Jake and Josh Nutt; and her brother, Mike Glasford.
She was preceded in death by her son, Richard Frye; and siblings, Nancy, Patricia, Robert and Richard.
Mary was born Nov. 11, 1939, in Iowa City, the daughter of Herbert and Leora Spinks Glasford. She graduated from Albia High School and went to technical school to become a clerical clerk. She was an administrative assistant and a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.
Mary was a hardworking, strong, independent woman who beat cancer twice over 10 years. She enjoyed taking road trips, and loved being with her family. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
