Mary Jeanne Fleming, 69, of Vinton, passed away Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014, at Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehab in Vinton following an extended illness. Fu-neral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. Sixth St.) in Vinton, with Pastor Tom Fogle (Cedar Rapids) officiating. Interment will be in the Garrison Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at First Baptist Church in Vinton. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
A memorial fund has been established for the The Navigators (www.navigators.org), an international, inter-denominational Christian ministry that helps people grow in Jesus Christ as they navigate through life.
Mary Jeanne was born June 5, 1945, to Marion and Emily (Orr) Marolf (Hopkington). On Nov. 28, 1980, she married Joseph Fleming, son of James and Donna Fleming (Garrison), at Cedar Valley Bible Church in Cedar Rapids.
Mary Jeanne graduated from Alburnett High School in 1963, and attended Marshalltown Community College and AIB in Des Moines. She held clerical positions with several companies over the years, her last employment being with Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids as an executive secretary.
In 1967, Mary Jeanne received Jesus Christ as her Savior, and from that day forward, faithfully served him by ministering to and encouraging others.
Her family and friends will most remember her for her kind and gentle spirit, even through times of physical adversity.
Mary Jeanne is survived by her husband, Joseph Fleming of Vinton; sister, Marjorie (Darrell) Stimson of Davenport; brother, Bruce (Patti) Marolf of Marion; and sister, Maxine (Robert) Heath of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, Stanley.
