Mary Faches, 87, formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died on Sept. 9, 2022. Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022, at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, 2022, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, with a Trisagion Service at 7 p.m. Arrangements are with Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Service, Cedar Rapids.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Andrea Faches (Eric Chadwick) and Allison Faches (Brian Hawes); nine adoring grandchildren: granddaughters, Katharine, Tess and Melina Chadwick and Ashlynn and Teagan Hawes; and grandsons, Bill and Alex Chadwick, and Carrick and Lorcan Hawes.
Mary served the Cedar Rapids Public Schools as a teacher for many years. She loved her family dearly. Mary enjoyed cooking and playing cards. She was always keen with her wit and southern charm.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Faches; and siblings, Helen Constant and Alex Matzanias.
Memorials may be made in Mary’s name to St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in Cedar Rapids.
