Mary Elenor Dougherty, 92, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021, at Living Center West in Cedar Rapids. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
Mary was born on April 20, 1928, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of

She worked many jobs through the years, which included waitress, nurse's aide, housekeeping and building maintenance for the City of Cedar Rapids Police Department. She was always there for her children in their time of need.
Mary enjoyed gardening, growing houseplants, machine-knitting, crocheting and volunteering in her later years. She spent countless hours volunteering at Olivet Mission and was also a volunteer Grandma for Kids Campus. Mary was a longtime member of Cedar Rapids Seventh Day Adventist Church, serving as Sabbath secretary and helping with church projects.
Mary is survived by her children, Gloria (Bob) McMahan, John Kidder, Christina Arnold and Rick (Jennifer) Dougherty, all of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren, Jason Kidder, Ryan (Julie) McMahan, Jeff McMahan, Jenny Perez, David Arnold and Angie Arnold; three great-grandchildren, Jonah, Henry and Lincoln McMahan; and a sister, Shirley Tatro of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and five siblings, Bill, Dorthey, Darlene, Viola and Doris.
The family thanks Living Center West and UnityPoint Hospice for their care and compassion.
They ask that you hold Mary's memory in your hearts and consider a memorial donation to the charity of your choice.
