Mary Mayhew Durfey died Friday, July 28, 2017. No services will be held. Graveside services for family and friends will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Blairstown. Papich-Kuba Funeral Service, Cedar Rapids, is serving the family.
Mary Lou was born April 4, 1939, in Blairstown, to Rex and Berenice (Kimm) Mayhew. She graduated from high school in Fayette and was also a graduate of Coe College in Cedar Rapids. Mary married Aldin Durfey on Oct. 6, 1957. She worked in television for 35 years at stations in Cedar Rapids, Indianapolis, Ind., Columbus, Ohio, and retired from WAGA-TV in Atlanta, Ga., as commercial operations manager.
She is survived by her husband, Aldin; her brother, Jim (Patricia) Mayhew of Indianola; her sister, Joyce (Dan) Turpen of Ellettsville, Ind.; her sisters-in-law, Patricia Durfey and Mary Ellen Gilbert (Jan Collins), both of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews. including a special niece, Renee (Dean) Konrad of Cedar Rapids.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and brother, John Mayhew.
