Mary Dorothy Wood, 89, of Anamosa, Iowa passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at the Anamosa Care Center in Anamosa, Iowa.
Visitation will be held from 4 - 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Kramer-Morris Funeral Home in Monticello, Iowa. Visitation will continue Friday morning at 9:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Anamosa, Iowa, prior to funeral services.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 20, 2025, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Anamosa with burial following in the Riverside Cemetery in Anamosa. Rev. Dennis Rodenberg will officiate.
Dorothy was born on August 7, 1935, in Anamosa, IA, daughter of Carl and Helen (Skeels) Eden. She graduated from Springville High School in 1953 and soon after married George Wood on October 2, 1953, in Anamosa. Mary worked as a food service director for the Anamosa Community School district for 25 years before retiring in 1997.
Dorothy enjoyed her time with friends and family, especially playing cards and spending time at the campground in Guttenberg. She and George also loved the many cruises together during retirement.
Survivors include her husband of 72 years, George; children: Sandra (Danny) Brewer of Monticello, Bradley Wood of Denver, CO; brother, Richard (Eileen) Eden; and a brother-in-law, Jerry (Shirley) Wood, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael Wood in 1972; grandson, Shaun Brewer in 2021; and a sister-in-law, Rose Stone.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Camp Courageous in Monticello or St. Paul Lutheran Church in Anamosa.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Anamosa Care Center for their love, care, and support during Dorothy’s stay.
