"CATHY" CLANTON Coralville Mary C. "Cathy" Clanton, 63, of Coralville, died early Friday morning, Oct. 10, 2014, in a fire at her home from accidental smoke inhalation. Mary Catherine Clanton, daughter of Logan and Sarah Clanton, was born and raised in Davenport, Iowa, on March 23, 1951. Cathy graduated from the University of Iowa with a bachelor's degree in nursing. She worked at Universtiy of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics until retiring from the Dermatology Clinic on Oct. 2, 2014. Cathy's work as an R.N. was extremely meaningful to her. Those Cathy left behind are her brother, Elwin "Al" Brown (Eileen), Sioux Falls, S.D.; her nephew, Dave A. Brown (Laura), Yankton, S.D.; her sisters, RuthAnne Free (John), Des Moines, and Arlene Camper (John), Denver, Colo.; and brother, Gary Clanton (Ruthie), Alabama. Cathy was preceded in death by her parents; her aunt and uncle, Rachel and Edgar Holden; and her special friend, Margaret Moore. Cathy will be laid to rest with her mother and father at Davenport Memorial Park, Davenport, with a private graveside service. Memorials may be given to St. Jude Hospital. Cathy's greatest pleasures were the University of Iowa football games and the basketball games for which she had season tickets. Thoughts may be shared with the family at www.lensingfuneral.com.
