Mary Ann Bissell, 76, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at Chandler Medical Center in Chandler, Ariz.
She was born in Independence, Iowa, on June 17, 1941, to Andrew and Emma (Koranda) Higgins and was the youngest of three children. In 1959, she graduated from Walker High School and married Earl F. Bissell, her loving husband of 59 years. They built their life together in Center Point and raised four beautiful children. She worked as a certified nurse's aide for several years, but her favorite occupation was that of wife, mother and later grandmother. She passionately cared for and nurtured everyone around her. No matter what the situation, she would offer a listening ear, a big hug, sound advice and a contagious smile. And she always made sure that no one ever left her home hungry.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Emma; her two brothers, Richard and Robert; and her eldest son, Dennis.
She is survived by her husband, Earl; her children, Kristine Michael of Newport News, Va., Ronald (Juanita) Bissell of Austin, Texas, John (Angela) Bissell of Bethesda, Md., and Kathy (wife of Dennis) Bissell of Coralville; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
