MARY ANN ARMSTRONG

Mary Ann Armstrong, 88, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully Friday, March 20, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids, conducted by Pastor Randy Kasch and Pastor Trish Decker. Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 23, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. An additional visitation will be one hour before the service Tuesday. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, at a later date.
Survivors include her husband, Edwin Arm-strong; children, Mike (Celeta) Rahn, Lynette Macie and Terry (Wendy) Armstrong; five grand-children; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Norma (George) Steckle; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister, and niece, Kelley Dystra.
Mary Ann was born May 15, 1926, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, daughter of Elwood "Joe" and Mary Ann (Chariper) Paul. In the late 1980s, she worked and sold Avon products. On Aug. 12, 1972, she married Edwin Armstrong in Preston, Minn. Mary Ann and Ed loved to square dance together and enjoyed attending the Cedar Rapids Kernels baseball games. She also loved to garden.
