MARY ANN MENTE
Tipton
Mary Ann Mente, 82, of Vinton, formerly of Tipton, died Monday, Oct. 24, 2016, at the Vinton Lutheran Home. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at St. John's United Church of Christ, Clarence, with Pastor Tommi Boeder officiating. Burial: St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call beginning at 9 a.m. Friday at the church.
Survivors include her husband, James; son, David (Stacy) of Adrian, Minn.; daughter, Denise (Todd) Wiley of Walker; seven grandchildren; brother, Earl Oelerich of Davenport; sister, Shirley Morrow of DeWitt; sister-in-law, Teresa Anderson of Arlington Heights, Ill.; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Jack Morrow.
She was born Nov. 1, 1933, in Scott County, Iowa, to Herman and Hilda Study Oelerich. She married James Mente on June 27, 1964, in Davenport.
Mary Ann was an avid baker and loved to make treats for her family. She was a farm wife but also worked at Wal-Mart for many years in Tipton. Mary Ann liked to sew. She enjoyed playing cards and card clubs, going to her grandkids' events, going for drives with her husband and cheering on the Hawkeyes. In her younger years, she was a 4-H leader and had a love for gardening.
