Mary Alice Cejka, 82, of Hiawatha, Iowa, passed away at the UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s Hospital on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
A visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19, at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, with the Certified Celebrant, Cindy McKee officiating. A livestream of the service will be offered on the Cedar Memorial website under Mary’s obituary under the video tab, starting on Tuesday, Dec. 20, at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery-Garden of Tranquility.
Mary was born on Jan. 20, 1940, in Iowa City, Iowa. She was the daughter of the late Murray and Grace (Van Velkenburg) Longfellow. On March 26, 1966, Mary married the love of her life, Bernie Cejka in Marion, Iowa. Mary enjoyed camping, dominoes, family game night, family vacations, antique shopping, boating, fishing and crafting with her grandchildren. Mary greatest joy was the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those left to cherish Mary’s memory are her husband, Bernard of Hiawatha, Iowa; her children, Steven Linnabery of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Stanley Linnabery, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Leisa (James) Bernardi of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Danny (Tammy) Linnabery of Atkins, Iowa, and Karla (Joe) Fitzpatrick of Toddville, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Linnabery; her parents; and her siblings, Joyce Stewart, Murray (Harlan) Longfellow Jr., Edward Longfellow, Charlotte Evelyn and Grace Dolores Longfellow.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the UnityPoint Hospice.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at UnityPoint Hospice for the care and support they showed Mary, while she was in their care.
