Marvin D. Wickwire, 84, formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018, at Clarksville Skilled Nursing and Rehab. Services are at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service, Belle Plaine. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine, with military honors. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, at the funeral home.

Marvin was born July 15, 1933, to Alton and Vada (Richard) Wickwire, in Aredale, Iowa. On March 20, 1953, he married his wife of 63 years, Deloris Miller, in Marengo. Marvin had a career in trucking, including working for P.I.E. Trucking, where he spent his time exploring the country's highways and byways, over the road trucking. Following retirement, he worked for Kirkwood Community College as a driving instructor and at Truck Country in Cedar Rapids.

Marvin enjoyed woodworking and was an avid fisherman. Together with his wife, they enjoyed traveling. Marvin was always planning their next trip. Most of all, he loved spending time with family and friends and was never at a loss for conversation.

He was a 50-year member of the Masons.

He is survived by his children, Marvlyn (Allen) Barber of Clarksville, Beverly Weiss of Cedar Falls and Dean (Chris) Wickwire of Shell Rock; grandchildren, Nicholas (Emily) Barber, Nathan (Brandy) Wickwire and Tyler (Lynda) Wickwire; and nine great-grandchildren.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters; wife, Deloris Wickwire; and son, Marvin Dean Jr.
