Marvin Duane Siefken, 90, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Monday morning, Nov. 7, 2016, at Northbrook Manor Care, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Marvin passed away from complications due to having Type I diabetes disease for over 85 years. Family will greet friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Service: 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at the funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Dennis Johnson.
Marvin was born June 25, 1926, in White, S.D., the son of Albert and Bertha (Claaussen). He married Marjorie Carter on June 30, 1946, in Marshalltown, Iowa. Marvin spent 28 years working for Nash Finch Co. in advertising.
Not only did Marvin enjoy time spent with family, he loved to spend time in his woodworking shop doing projects of all kinds, including scroll woodworking.
Survivors include his son, Richard (Penelope) Siefken of Marion; grandchildren, Jason Duane (Lindsay) and Jamie Richard (Jennifer) Siefken; and great-grandchildren, Dean Siefken, Brody Siefken and Crosby Siefken.
In addition to survivors are stepgrandchildren, Candy Ellertson and Clint Pirkel; and stepgreat-grandchildren, Ashlin Pirkel, Tyler Ellertson and Adam Ellertson.
He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents.
