Marvin L. Carney, 84, of Marengo, passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at Compass Memorial Hospital, Marengo. Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Marengo, with Father David Wilkening officiating. Burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery, Marengo, with military honors conducted by the Marengo American Legion Post 76 and the Army Honor Guard. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers or "cement," a memorial fund has been established.
Marv is survived by his three sons, Randy (Angie) of Marengo, Jim (Cheryl) of Walford and Mike (Sharon) of Marengo; six grandchildren, Lyndsey Carney of Marengo, Holly (John) Hinshaw of Marengo, Lucas (Holly) Carney of Minnetonka, Minn., Rachel Carney of Coralville, Makayla Carney of Luzerne and Austin Carney of Keystone; one great-grandson, Egen Hinshaw; two sisters, Donna Grimm of Cedar Rapids and Shirley (Dean) Stoddard of Williamsburg; and a sister-in-law, Judy Carney of Williamsburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Patricia, in 2014; a son, Daniel in infancy; two twin grandchildren, Patrick and Ashlyn in infancy; and his brother, Leonard.
