MARVIN HOUSER Walford Marvin E. Houser, 78, of Walford, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha from compli-cations of CHF. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Teahen Funeral Home ? Walford Chapel by Chaplain Brian Reeves. Burial: St. Patrick Cemetery, Fairfax. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday at the funeral home in Walford from 4 until 7 p.m. and again on Thursday after 10 a.m. Marvin is survived by his wife, Beverly; daughters, Denise (David) Rairdin of West Des Moines and Cheryl (Doug) Keiper of Fairfax; son, Duane (Jennifer) Houser of Walford; and grand-children, Sarah and Emily Rairdin, Samantha, Sabrina and Johnathon Keiper and Tate and Keaton Houser. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Wilma Houser; in-laws, Clarence and Irene Hartgrave; brother, Richard; and sisters, Lola and Deena. Marvin Edward was born Dec. 13, 1936, in Benton County, the son of Edward Earl and Wilma Antonette Schulte Houser, and graduated from Walford High School in 1955. He served his country in the Army from 1956 to 1959. He married Beverly Joann Hartgrave on Feb. 29, 1960, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Walford. He worked at Amana Refrigeration for 40 years, retiring in 1999. Marvin was an outdoorsman; spending time hunting and fishing was a favorite pasttime. He enjoyed watching sports, especially baseball and basketball, and in his later years, liked to spend his free time gambling. Above all, he loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren.
