MARVIN DALE HOLLINGSWORTH

Marvin Dale Hollingsworth, 92, passed on June 16, 2017, of natural causes, with family members at his bedside. He resided at the Colorado Veterans medical facility in Aurora.
Marvin was born Jan. 9, 1925, in Cambridge, Iowa, to Fred and Hazel Marie Hollingsworth. He was raised in Cedar Rapids, graduated from Franklin High School in 1943 and attended Iowa State University. He then served 20 years active duty in the Army followed by 21 years of civil service and Army Reserves with the 73rd Combat Field Support Hospital Unit in Cedar Rapids. He saw combat during World War II in North Africa, Italy, France and Germany. He also was a Korean War veteran.
In 1956, while stationed in Japan, Marvin met and married his wife, Wakaba Takata.
Marvin was preceded in death by his brother, Wallace.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Wakaba Takata; sons, Kim of Cedar Rapids, Oliver (Marla) of Alexandria, Va., and Lee (Sara) of Huntington Beach, Calif.; daughter, Sandra (Larry) of Rollinsville, Colo.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A military memorial service will be conducted Aug. 11 at Fort Logan, Colo.
