Marvin Derynck, 88, of Clarence, died Friday, June 6, 2014, at the Mechanicsville Nursing & Rehab Center. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, at Chapman Funeral Home, Clarence, with the Rev. Jordan McKinley officiating. Burial: Trinity Lutheran Cemetery at a later date. Visitation: 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday, June 11, at the funeral home.
Marvin was born July 17, 1925, in Lost Nation,
Iowa, to Felix and Mary (Ricklef) Derynck. He married Evelyn Gottschalk on Aug. 27, 1950, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lowden. She died Sept. 22, 2009.
Marvin was a member of the Clarence American Legion Post 286 and was a former custodian at the Cedar County Courthouse for 27 years. He was hard-working and
always busy, but enjoyed the times he shared with his friends and family. Marvin was a lifelong Cedar County resident.
He is survived by his daughter, Pamela (Donald) Casteel of Warren, Mich.; one grandchild; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and two brothers, Melvin and Silven.
