Martinek, Betty Jean
Betty Jean Martinek, 50, passed away peacefully Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Per Betty's wishes, she will be cremated. Stewart Baxter Funeral Home is making the arrangements.
She was preceded in death by both parents and an infant brother, Christopher.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Kimberly; son, James; brother, Harry; sister, Penny and husband Mark; nephew, Michael; and good friend, Tom, who gave his devotion and love for many years.
Betty earned her GED then went on to graduate from Hamilton Business College. Her children, family, friends, cats and gardening provided much enjoyment while she fought a hard battle against mounting health issues.
The family would like to thank the caring, thoughtful staff at Mercy Medical Center, The University of Iowa Hospitals and Hospice House of Mercy.
There will be a celebration of life memorial at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, at the Jones Park Oak Pavilion.
