Martindale, Donald H. 'Sparky'
Donald H. “Sparky” Martindale, 91, of Oelwein, died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at Mercy Hospital of Franciscan Sisters in Oelwein following a lingering illness. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9, at Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein. The Rev. Leo Combs-Lay will officiate. Visitation: 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein, with a public Masonic service by Hebron Lodge 374 AF&AM of Oelwein at 6 p.m., and after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the church. Interment: 2:30 p.m. Monday at Postville Cemetery in Postville, with military rites by American Legion Post 518 of Postville.
He is survived by his wife, Iva of Oelwein; two sons, Donald (Karen) Martindale of Monona and Peter (Regina) Martindale of Oelwein; two grandsons, Nathan Martindale of Elkader and Ryan Martindale of Monona; and many nieces and nephews.
