Martin F. Waterman Jr., 86, formerly of Central City, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Monday, Jan. 18, 2021. The family is holding a private Celebration of Life on Friday, Jan. 22. He will be cremated.
Survivors include his children, Sheri ( Bruce) Stewart, Marty (Linda) Waterman, Terri Waterman and Gerri (Gordon) Rector; an uncle, Alvin Maier; nine grandchildren, Colten Dillinger, Kenzi (Jimmy) Hilleshiem, Dixie (Kelsey) Bogard, Dylan Bogard, Dessa Bogard, Christi (Aaron) Taylor, Kayla Taylor, Danny Taylor and Vivian Waterman; and three great-grandchildren, Laiklyn, Aaron and baby Hilleshiem
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Pearl Waterman; his wife, Dixie Wistrick Waterman; one brother, Verdeen Waterman; and nephew, Glen Waterman
Martin was born to Martin and Pearl Waterman in Elkport, Iowa, on Nov. 27, 1934. On Sept. 21, 1957, he married the love of his life, Dixie Mae Wistrick. Martin served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959. He was a retired mechanic of 30-plus years. Martin was well known for his funny sense of humor and quick wit.
A special thanks to the VA for their excellent care, as well as Mercy Hospice and Hospital. We were blessed with a caring healthcare team. Also a special thanks to Gary Vanter, dad's best friend who has been part of this family for 30-plus years.
