Katie/Kathleen (Mary C.) Martin, 85, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, following a long illness. Funeral mass: 10 a.m. Fridayat St. Jude Catholic Church by the Rev. Mark Reasoner. Burial: 1 p.m. Friday, Calvary Cemetery in Cascade. A vigil service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at Teahen Funeral Home. where friends may visit from 3 to 7 p.m. Friends may also visit after 9 a.m. Friday at the church.
Katie is survived by three sons, Dan (Patricia) of Atlanta, Ga., Pat (Shelly) of Wilmette, Ill., and Jim (Jane) of Cedar Rapids; six grandsons, Christopher of Atlanta, Ga., Kyle of New York, N.Y., Nick and Jake, both of Cedar Rapids, Tim of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Sean of Wilmette, Ill.; sisters, Janne (Herb) Green and Linda (Al) Marshall, all of Cascade; and many nieces and nephews.
Katie was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. Martin; sister, Muriel Rogers; and a brother, Pat Rogers.
Katie was born on August 8, 1925, in Monticello, the daughter of Frank and Leone (Lehner) Rogers. She married Joseph E. Martin on August 22, 1950, in Cascade. She attended Mercy School of Nursing in Dubuque and worked as an registered nurse and was also a homemaker.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
