Martin, Daniel Edward

Daniel Edward Martin, 68, of Cedar Rapids, passed away April 30, 2012, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, following a long illness. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 18, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion, by the Rev. John Gossman. Private burial: St. Joseph Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Arrangements by Stewart Baxter Funeral &Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy McCormick Martin; son, Brian (Amy) Martin of Orange, Calif.; three grandchildren, Kaleigh, Molly and Jack; brother, Ralph (Phyllis) Martin Jr. of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.; sister, Theresa (Carl) Moore of Marion; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Sarah Martin; and a son, Richard Martin.

Daniel was born Oct. 23, 1943, in Cedar Rapids. He worked as a master radio technician at Rockwell Collins. The last few years he spent many hours researching genealogy for his family and was also a ham radio operator. Daniel will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
