Martha M. Schlueter, 91, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, May 8, 2016, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, May 12, at St. Ludmila's Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, conducted by Father Dennis Juhl. Visitation: one hour before the service. Burial: St. John's Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Randy (Wendy) Schlueter, Jeff (Michelle) Schlueter, Michael (Amy) Schlueter and Lynda (Wayne) Cook; grandchildren, Brandon, Tyler, Anna, Emmett, Ryan, T.J., Adam and Dustin; and one great-grandson on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerome "Jerry" Schlueter; and brother, Wesley Dvorak.
Martha was born Oct. 21, 1924, in Clutier, Iowa, the daughter of John and Mary (Sebesta) Dvorak. She married Jerry on June 6, 1959, in Cedar Rapids. Martha was a member at St. Ludmila's Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and watching them play sports. Martha was an avid Hawkeye and Cubs fan.
The family would like to give a special thank-you to the Hiawatha Care Center, Hospice House of Mercy and to Dr. Mary Anne Nelson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Ludmila's Catholic Church.
