Martha Jane Erlacher, 87, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully, May 2, 2025, at Winslow House Care Center in Marion. She was in the loving company of family and friends. There will be a Graveside Committal Service at 11:30 AM, Friday, May 9, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cedar Rapids. A Celebration of Life will take place May 9, 1:00 PM at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1420 Walker St., Ely, IA 52227.
Martha was born on June 19, 1937, in Sioux City, IA, the daughter of Louis and Elizabeth (Epler) Christiansen. She worked as a Photographic Technician at Read Photography in Cedar Rapids. In her retirement years, she enjoyed traveling the country and visiting the National Parks. Martha was a dedicated
Wildlife Rehabilitator and nature enthusiast. She is also remembered as a handyperson extraordinaire. Martha loved elephants and had a large collection of elephant collectibles and paintings. In her free time, she was also an avid reader. Martha was an independent, strong, caring, and loving woman. She will be greatly missed by all.
Survivors include her sons, Terry Erlacher of Manassas, VA and Norman Erlacher; daughter-in-law, Laurie Erlacher of Hiawatha; son-in-law, Russell Beck of Cedar Rapids; brother, Peter Christiansen of Marion; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; children, John, Kris, Tommy, and Steven; and a brother Lou Christiansen.
The family thanks the staff of Winslow House, for the excellent care provided to Martha.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Winslow House Care Center in Marion.
