Martha Griffith, 92, died of natural causes on Aug. 6, 2015. There will be no services at this time. A celebration of life with family and friends will be held sometime in the near future.
Martha was born April 21, 1923, to Louis and Florence Johns in Cherokee, Iowa. She graduated from Wilson High School in Cherokee and later from the University of Minnesota. She married Don Griffith in 1945. They were happily married for 49 years before his passing in 1994.
Martha was a member, since 1953, of Chapter JI of P.E.O., and many, many bridge clubs.
In her own words, "I've had a wonderful life, a loving and devoted family, and many dear friends, including especially my good friend, Allen Berndt."
She is survived by her four children, Steve (Marla) of Solon, Dave (Nancy) of Greenville, Neb., Cary (Ana) of Rosemont, Minn., and Joannie (John) of Littleton, Colo.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and her sister, Grace Whitham of Olathe, Kan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; her parents; and her brother, Lawrence.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, the Free Medical Clinic or a charity of your choice.
