Martha A. Etscheidt, 87, of Dyersville, passed away Monday, April 10, 2017, at Stonehill Care Center in Dubuque. Friends and relatives of Martha may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, at Reiff Funeral Home in Dyersville. Friends also may call after 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 19,
at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Watkins. Services for Martha will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Craig E. Steimel presiding. Burial will be held in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Watkins.
She was born Aug. 10, 1929, in Luzerne, Iowa, the daughter of John and Blanche (Dvorak) Lagos. She was a graduate of Wilson High School in Cedar Rapids. On June 10, 1947, she was united in marriage to Lloyd G. Etscheidt at St. Patrick's Church in Watkins. He preceded her in death on May 7, 2011.
She was employed as a bookkeeper for J.C. Penney in Dyersville. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish in Dyersville, a former member of the Dyersville American Legion Auxiliary and a volunteer driver for RTA.
She is survived by five children, Steven Etscheidt of Dyersville, Randolph (Susan) Etscheidt and Elizabeth (Tom) Przybylski, both of Cedar Falls, Dr. Mark (Susan) Etscheidt of Lexington, Ky., and Patricia (Robert) Holmes of Millington, Ill.; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Dennis John Etscheidt, in 1948; and two daughters-in-law, Monika M. Etscheidt and Sherry Etscheidt.
A Martha A. Etscheidt memorial fund has been established for Hospice of Dubuque.
