Martens, Margot E.
Margot E. Martens, 89, of Robins, passed away Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. A funeral service, celebrating Margot's life, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories in Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. Dave Higdon officiating. Entombment will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include her children, Ron (Carolyn) of Irving, Texas, Ann (Al) Dalziel of Cedar Rapids, Mary (Harold) Hensel of Mount Vernon, Richard (Wanda) of Cedar Rapids, Nancy (Doug) White of Marion, Sue (Roger) Hoeppner of Cedar Rapids, Linda (Bruno) Capparilli of Callaway, Md., Barbara Martens of Marion, Tom (Pam) of Cedar Rapids, Debra (Mike) Trachta of Bemidji, Minn., Kristine (Gary) Herber of Cedar Rapids, Jon (Becky) of Robins and Judy Davis of Cedar Rapids; 34 grandchildren; 45 ½ great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren; sister, Lilly Peterson of Duluth, Minn.; her dedicated miniature schnauzer, JoJo; two nieces; two nephews; two great-nieces and two great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Einar and Marie Lorentson; and husband, Edward T. Martens.
Margot Evelyn Lorentson was born May 27, 1923, in Paint Creek Township, rural Allamakee County, Iowa, the daughter of Einar and Marie (Jenson) Lorentson. On Dec. 9, 1940, she married Edward T. Martens at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Edward died in 1989.
Margot was a member of Sons of Norway and the Robin's Homemaker Club. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, stained glass, gardening, reading, her computer, entertaining and especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
Memorials may be given to the donor's choice in her memory.
