Marsh, Robert 'Bob'
Robert “Bob” Marsh, 88, a resident of Cedar Rapids for the past five years, died Friday night, July 29, 2011, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha from complications associated with Lewy-Body Dementia. Services are pending at Wagner Funeral Home in Central City, Neb. There will be no local memorial service.
Since 2009, Bob has resided with Yvonne, his wife of 65 years, at his daughter and son-in-law's home at 7408 Westbury Dr. NE in Cedar Rapids. He was a longtime member of Littleton (Colo.) United Methodist Church and attended First United Methodist Church of Marion.
In addition to Yvonne, survivors include children, Diane (Alan) Beach of Cedar Rapids, Richard (Kay) Marsh of Longmont, Colo., and Tom (Denise) Marsh of Denver, Colo., as well as four grandchildren, one stepgrandchild, three stepgreat-grandchildren and two of his four brothers.
Bob was born Aug. 30, 1922, the son of Marion Frederick and Lily Belle (Mesner) Marsh in Archer, Neb. He graduated from Central City (Neb.) High School and attended Nebraska Central College. Bob farmed for 10 years and subsequently worked for grain equipment manufacturers as a sales representative, retiring on his 80th birthday.
Bob's quick wit, impish smile, gentile manner and musical versatility will be sorely missed.
The family wishes to thank Bob's loving caregivers and his medical team for their professional and compassionate assistance.
