Marlys Rose Taylor, 89, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center. Services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018, at
1 p.m. at Teahen Funeral
Home by Chaplain Elizabeth Dickey. Friends may visit with the family before the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service at Linwood Cemetery, Norway.
Marlys is survived by her daughter, Barbara Fortune of Cedar Rapids; granddaughter, Michelle Fortune of Iowa City; sister, Melba Davison of Cedar Rapids; and brother, Robert Paulsen of Newhall.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Lewis; son-in-law, Michael Fortune; sister, Ruth McSweeney; and brothers, Lloyd and Arlo Paulsen.
Marlys was born on July 14, 1929, in Newhall, the daughter of John and Clara Warner Paulsen. She married Earl Lewis Taylor on Oct. 28, 1950, in Newhall. Marlys retired from Armstrong's Department Store.
Marlys loved to watch the Iowa Hawkeyes men's and women's basketball teams. She will be missed by her friends and family.
The family would like to thank the staff at Mercy Hallmar for their care of Marlys and Earl.
