Marlene Vera Burns, 77, of Williamsburg, died Friday, September 5, 2025 at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Celebration of life: 6 p.m. Friday, September 12, 2025, Teahen Funeral Home. Burial at a later date. Friends may visit with the family on Friday before service from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home.
Marlene is survived by her husband, Allan Burns of 35 years of marriage; four children, Paul (Katie) Manrique of Florida, Debbie (Dennis) Pyle of Cedar Rapids, Stacy (John) Perez of Van Horn and Jenny Rogers of Virginia; 12 grandchildren, Micha, Tzion, Caitlyn, Ryan, Heather, Micheal, Shawn, Destiny, Eli, David, Steph and Alric; 7 great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Keith Hudepohl of Marengo and Julie (Dave) Hohenshell of Cedar Rapids.
Marlene was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Deb Hudepohl.
Marlene Vera Hudepohl was born on December 29, 1947 daughter of Milton John and Zelma Bertha (Chase) Hudepohl in Williamsburg. She attended business college and then went on to beauty college. Marlene was united in marriage to Allan Burns on June 9, 1990 in Tiffin. She was a secretary at Kirkwood Community College for many years.
Marlene enjoyed books, was an avid reader, and was involved in a couple of book clubs where they enjoyed books and sharing recipes and enjoying food. She enjoyed walking, traveling with her husband down to Florida in their trailer every winter, going to the beach, listening to gospel bluegrass music (especially The Garms) and, most of all, she dearly loved being a grandmother and spending time with family.
Instead of flowers, family requests memorials may be directed to The Shueyville Church All God’s Children daycare in Marlene’s name.
