Marion
Marlene M. Ramsey, 85, a lifelong resident of Marion, died Saturday, April 22, 2017, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 27, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion by Father David O'Connor. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include five children, Bob (Vicki) Ramsey of Center Point, Kathy (Tim) Steel of Casa Grande, Ariz., Marie (Larry) Lanning of Marion, Sheri (Kevin) Springman of Cedar Rapids and Kevin Ramsey of Marion; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one to arrive next week; a sister, Teresa Kimpel of Cedar Rapids; and a brother, Bill Moffatt of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Ramsey; and two granddaughters, Kathleen Springman and Stephanie (Ramsey) Thur.
Marlene was born May 18, 1931, the daughter of William and Anna (Gallo) Moffatt in Marion. She graduated from Marion High School in 1949. On Sept. 4, 1950, she married John C. Ramsey at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. Marlene worked at Rockwell Collins and Life Investors.
Marlene was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she was very active. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, crossword puzzles and spending time with her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Marlene's memory may be directed to the family.
