Marlene J. Dostal, 73, of Cedar Rapids, passed away following a brief illness early Friday, Jan. 6, 2023, at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church by Father Dennis Conway. Burial will follow at Saint John’s Cemetery. Visitation after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Papich-Kuba Funeral Service is serving the family.
Marlene is survived by son, Tim Collum; siblings, Marvin Krotz, Mary Henderson (Mike Ruzicka) and Patty (Mike) Pence; and 12 nieces and nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Dostal Sr.; parents, George and Louise (Zubrod) Krotz; daughter, Tina Collum; sister, Elaine Holder; and sister-in-law, Nancy Krotz.
Marlene was born Nov. 21, 1949, in Cedar Rapids, and was a lifelong resident. She had worked as a unit aide in the pediatrics department of Mercy Hospital and later as a CNA and in “Activities” at the Solon Nursing Care Center. She was a lifetime member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to a charity of the donor’s choice.
