Marks, Lois E.
Lois E. Marks, 88, of Santa Clara, N.M., passed away Sept. 8, 2013. Funeral services were 11:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13, at Baca's Funeral Chapels, Silver City, N.M. Pastor Mike Shriver officiated. Burial: Fort Bayard National Cemetery, Fort Bayard, N.M.
Survivors include her husband, Richard of Santa Clara; children, Leslie Ann (Jeff) Heefner of Bixby, Okla., Bruce (Helen) of La Mesa, N.M., Dennis (Karen) and Terry of Lebanon, Mo.; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lois was born June 2, 1925, in Kendallville, Ind. She was one of the few women to work at The Gazette in the early 1970s, covering teas and other news of the well-to-do.
Lois and Richard retired and moved to New Mexico to operate a small campground, filling station and store as well as hunt rocks.
