Mark Thomas Ahart passed away peacefully in his home on May 26, 2022, after a long illness. A Celebration of Life will take place at the Ahart residence located at 2401 Eastridge Ct., Fort Collins, Colo. from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 18.
Mark was born to Claire and John Ahart on April 30, 1957, in Ames, Iowa. In 1975 he graduated from Regis High School in Cedar Rapids, where he was a four-year member of the basketball team. Mark married Dianne (Di) Brumbaugh Needham on Dec. 21, 1992. They lived together with their son Daniel in Livermore (Glacier View) and Fort Collins, for more than 30 years. Living in the foothills of Glacier View Meadows, he was an avid hunter, fisherman, loved riding horses and had a passion for skiing with Di, especially in Steamboat, Colo. He was also a master scuba diver.
Mark worked as a journeyman electrician. In 2006 he went to McMurdo Station in Antarctica as an electrician for Raytheon. He was awarded the Antarctica Service Medal for the US Antarctic Research Program. Two years later he traveled to air bases in Afghanistan and Iraq as an electrician for KBR and the Department of Defense in Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. After six years Mark retired and returned home to Colorado. He then turned his love and passion for golf into a new career as a marshal for Southridge Golf Course, where he worked for five years. He will be remembered for his wit and ever-expanding courage and energy.
Mark is survived by his wife, Dianne; sons, Ryan Adle and Daniel Needham; daughter, Aubre Kelly Dixon (Joe); granddaughters, Brynne and Keilyn Dixon; parents, Claire Ahart and John Ahart (Pat); siblings, Kathleen Ahart (Shawn), David Ahart, Michael Ahart (Echo), Teresa Ahart Yancey (Rob), Mary Ahart Moller (Rob) and Beth Ahart Wolf (Charlie); along with many nephews and nieces.
