Mark Strait, 62, of Central City, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2022, at his home in Central City. Family will greet friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City, with memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at Mt. Clark Cemetery at a later date.
Mark was born on April 24, 1960, in Marion, Iowa, the son of Mearl and Evelyn (Proffitt) Strait. He was a graduate of Linn-Mar High School. Mark was the owner/operator of Mark’s Underground in Central City. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, cooking on the smoker, grilling and being with family and friends. Mark will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mark is survived and lovingly remembered by his mother, Evelyn Strait of Marion; son, Nick Strait of Coggon, Iowa; daughter, Megan Strait (Ryan Hepker) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; brother, John Strait of Illinois; two grandchildren, Alexis and Caden; three nephews, Kyle, Jared and Derek Strait; two nieces, Emily and Heather Strait; and former spouse, Jackie Strait of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his father, Mearl; and brother, Steve Strait.
Memorials in Mark’s memory may be directed to the family.
