Mark Joseph Cox, 51, of Hiawatha, passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, surrounded by his loving family.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m.
Friday, April 6, 2018, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Hiawatha. Family will greet friends one hour before the service, beginning at 10 a.m. at the church. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
Mark was born on March 29, 1967, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Mark and Connie (Houlahan) Cox. Mark worked for the past 35 years with his father, who owned Cedar Rapids Drywall. Mark was a sports enthusiast; his favorite teams were the Miami Dolphins, Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes. But his greatest joy was the time spent with his beloved family and friends, especially his daughters. Mark was a loving father, son, brother and friend whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by two daughters, Jessica and Jenna; his parents, Mark and Connie Cox; a sister, Colleen Licup and fiance, Jim Price; a nephew, Mitchell Licup; three aunts, Sue Gammill, JoAnn (Ed) O'Donnell and Maureen (Miles) McDonald; an uncle, Mike (Trese) Cox; girlfriend, Sheri Moores, and her children, Kylee, Madison and Tanin; and two longtime friends, Mike Floerchinger and John Womack; his special dog and companion, Tucker; and many loving extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Troy and Bonnie Cox and Bernard and Vera Houlahan.
A memorial fund has been established in Mark's name.
