Mark Edward Hancock, 69, of Amana, formerly of Indianapolis, Ind., passed away Friday, March 16, 2018, in Amana. Services will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Prairie Rose Bed and Breakfast in Amana. Call (319) 594-2043 for more information.
He is survived by his son, Keith Hancock, Noblesville, Ind. (fiancee Amanda Fitting); his son, William Hancock, Cedar Rapids (fiancee Olivia Bernard); his daughter, Kathrine Hancock Steulke, Luther College (husband Ian); his sister, Michelin (Mitch) Hancock Reiman, Brownsburg, Ind.; and nephews and nieces.
Mark valiantly battled cancer for the past four years, cared for by fiancee Marye Wanlass, owner of the Prairie Rose Bed and Breakfast in Amana.
He was born in Greensburg, Ind., to William Harold Hancock and Thelma Hancock. Mark attended Ball State University and graduated from Indiana University. He worked most recently in the technology field as technical director for Vinton-Shellsburg school district in Vinton.
Mark spent the first half of his life as a professional musician. He recorded an album and toured with the band, Shiloh Morning, among others. He was an accomplished musician, singing, playing guitar and piano.
