Mark Allen Coleman, 67, of Shellsburg, passed away Friday, April 22, 2022, in his home surrounded by his loving family. In honor of Mark's love of life, a Celebration of Life gathering will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Celebration of Life services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 28, at Brosh Chapel. Burial will be in Shellsburg Cemetery.
Mark was born June 16, 1954, in Webster City, the son of Myrll and Mavis (Johnson) Coleman. He graduated from South Hamilton High School in Jewell, Iowa, Class of 1973. Mark was united in marriage to Brenda Carlson (Kraus) in 1975. To this union two daughters were born. They later divorced. Mark retired from Walter-Sandvick as a senior sales engineer after 18 years of service. He previously worked for Rockwell Goss, Cherry Burrell and John Deere. Mark was united in marriage to Dorothy Frank-Chapman on May 1, 1999, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids.
Mark was an avid outdoorsman. You could find him on his tractor, in his timber logging and planting trees, or in his tree stand during deer season. He loved his Iowa Hawkeyes, tailgating and bowl games with friends. Nothing was more important than spending time with his family.
Mark is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children, Cara (Mike) Hromidko of Ely and Dena (Tim) Tegeler of Ankeny and Nikki Chapman of Gilbert, Ariz.; two grandchildren, Clayton and Grace; his siblings, Monte (Peggy) Coleman, Murray (Julie) Coleman, Monica (Eddie) Parker and Marty Coleman (Denise McNew); as well as his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Steve Wilson.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family for a future memorial.
